NASSMA will provide a unique opportunity to learn from experts in the field, engage with other researchers, and understand the major challenges in this hot area of research. Through a combination of lectures and practical labs, the summer school will deliver contents to get started and apply machine learning to your research problems.

Program

The summer school will include lectures on the following topics:

  • Introduction to Machine Learning
  • Mathematics of Machine Learning
  • Optimisation methods
  • Computer Vision (with emphasis on Convolutional Neural Networks)
  • Recurrent neural networks
  • Generative models
  • Recommender systems
  • Applications of machine learning to healthcare

Practical sessions (in Python and TensorFlow) will cover the following topics:

  • Basics of neural networks
  • Convolutional neural networks
  • Recurrent neural networks
  • Recommender systems
