From Curiosity to AI Confidence: Ai Kenya’s AI Masterclass equips Leaders for an AI Future
August 04, 2025In a time when artificial intelligence is reshaping every aspect of work and leadership, a select group of executives and business leaders gathered in Nairobi, Kenya on the 24th of July 2025 for a Ai Kenya’s Monthly AI Masterclass : “Augmented Thinking: Leading with AI confidence in a changing world.”

According to recent data, Kenya leads the world in ChatGPT usage. An astounding 42.1% of internet users use ChatGPT, according to a recent report by DataReportal. This is not your typical trend that comes and goes; rather, it represents a fundamental change in the way we work, think, and create.

As more people adopt AI, the crucial question is how are Kenyan companies reacting to this? To meet this need, Ai Kenya is taking the lead in translating curiosity, anxiety, and aversion into confident action. The Ai Kenya team, led by Alfred Ongere (Founder and CEO, Ai Kenya), delivered an insightful masterclass that created space for thoughtful dialogue around emerging trends, evolving workplace dynamics, and the real opportunities and challenges that AI brings. Participants explored the intersection of leadership and technology, and reflected on how to position themselves and their organizations in a future shaped by intelligent systems.
Key topics explored in the workshop included:
- Evolving AI leadership mindsets
- Real-world industry use cases
- Prompt engineering and communication with AI systems
- Workflow integration and strategic alignment
- Emerging risks and challenges
- Policy, governance, and responsible use of AI
- Building AI confidence within teams and organizations
One of the more thought-provoking moments of the day was during an exercise exploring AI-generated advertisements in Kenya. The room came alive and participants debated the public sentiment these ads have sparked and the potential cost advantages of AI-driven advertisements as compared to more traditional methods, as well as whether the market is truly ready to embrace AI-created content in business. Amid the differing views, one participant offered a particularly grounded perspective: “AI is your friend. But more importantly, keep the human at the center, not the technology. That is how we thrive.”

The event concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony and participants left equipped with knowledge, strategies and clear roadmaps for introducing and scaling AI within their organizations. The Augmented Thinking workshop stands as a reflection of Ai Kenya’s commitment to democratizing machine intelligence and fostering a responsible, forward-thinking AI ecosystem across the country.
