SUMMARY:DSSGA’19: Data Science for Social Good in Africa 2019
DESCRIPTION:Advances in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are profoundly transforming economically advanced nations. Unfortunately, Africa is still lagging behind in these technological developments. If this technology gap is not closed, it would foster algorithmic biais, disparities in access to data and information, and lead to growing inequity between countries.\nHowever, despite the barriers, Africa presents many opportunities. In fact, private and crowdsourced datasets from different sources are becoming available in many African countries. In the other hand, Data Science and AI-related skills are being democratized and talents are emerging.\nThe aim of this workshop is to encourage researchers from Data Science and AI communities and researchers from other backgrounds, in Africa and worldwide, to think collectively and propose innovative data-driven solutions to enhance quality of life in Africa and contribute in achieving inclusive development.\nSubmission Guidelines\nAll papers  must be original, unpublished and not submitted to another journal or conference. Contributions should be written in English and be prepared using Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) format and should not exceed 12 pages.\nSubmitted papers will be carefully evaluated by at least three reviewers. Submissions must be in PDF format and should be made using the DSSGA’19 Easychair website.\n \nList of Topics\nThe workshop welcomes submissions, that are related, but not limited, to the following topics :\n\nPrecision Agriculture\nIndustry 4.0\nInnovation in Healthcare\nSmart and Sustainable cities\nArtificial Intelligence in Education\nEmerging technologies for Persons with Disabilities\nIntelligent Transportation Systems\nSocial Networks Analysis\nNatural Language Processing applied to local dialects\n\nGeneral Co-Chairs\n\nMohamed EL Adnani , Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nEssaid El Bachari, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nJihad Zahir, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\n\nCommittees\nProgram Committee\n\nEsteban Vázquez Cano, National University of Distance Education, Spain.\nRachida Dssouli, Concordia University, Canada.\nAbdelaziz Khadraoui, University of Geneva, Switzerland.\nAbdelila Maach, Mohammed-V University, Morocco.\nEric Leclercq, University of Burgundy, France.\nRichard Chbeir, UPPA University, France.\nBubacarr Bah, African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, South Africa.\nMohammed El Hassouni, Mohammed-V University , Morocco.\nChouaib Moujahdi, Mohammed-V University, Morocco.\nFrançois-Xavier Coudoux, Polytechnique Haut de France University, France.\nNawal Alioua , Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nOthmane Alaoui Fdili, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nPatrick Corlay, Polytechnique Haut de France University, France.\nMohammed Gharbi, Polytechnique Haut de France University, France.\nEl Hassan Abdelwahed, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nMohamed EL Adnani , Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nYannis Pousset,  Poitiers University , France.\nJihad Zahir, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nAmin Zribi, ENIT,  Tunis Elmanar University, Tunisia.\nEssaid El Bachari, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco.\nClency Perrine, Poitiers University, France.\nAyoub Karine, Haute-Alsace University, France.\nVukosi Marivate, University of Pretoria, South Africa.\nCiira Maina,Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kenya.\nVahid Meghdadi, Poitiers University, France.\nNoureddine Doghmane, Badji Mokhtar Annaba University, Algeria.\nNasreddine Kouadria, Annaba University, Algeria.\n\nOrganizing committee\n\nMohammed EL Adnani , Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco\nEssaid El Bachari, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco\nJihad Zahir, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco\nEl Hassan Abdelwahed, Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco\nNoussair Lazrek (Phd Student), Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco\n\nContact\nAll questions about submissions should be emailed to:\n\nj.zahir@uca.ac.ma\nmd-eladnani@uca.ma\nelbachari@uca.ac.ma\n\n
